Walk a Frederickson Street
The strongest street directory starts with place, not a person. Pierce County assigns addresses in unincorporated areas, so Frederickson belongs in county parcel and map systems. A parcel owner is not automatically an occupant. Treat each source as a dated clue, keep situs and mailing addresses separate, and save the exact road form shown in the record.
- Normalize the full address with USPS, while remembering that postal geography does not prove a resident or civic boundary.
- Search Pierce County ATIP and PublicGIS; record the parcel key, situs, map date, and owner display.
- Use the owner name, legal description, date, or AFN in the Recorder index. That system does not search by street address.
- For lawful voter research, use VoteWA for one record or the Pierce Elections request route for approved precinct data.
- For past households, inspect the relevant year and any reverse section in a regional directory, then compare maps and census material.
This chain separates ownership, registration, and published occupancy. A match gains weight when two independent, date-matched sources agree.
Frederickson PublicGIS Street Search
The official PublicGIS guide documents the controls for a Frederickson by-address search. The viewer gives spatial context, not a title report or live household list. Save the active layer and screen date because county map data changes.
| Control | Type | Required | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search mode | Dropdown | Choose one | Site address, intersection, parcel number, or place of interest |
| Intersection | Text | Not documented | Use an ampersand between streets |
| Identify | Map action | No | Inspect layer attributes |
| Go to XY | Coordinates | Not documented | WGS84 or state plane |
| Control | No | Set title, legend, extent, and scale |
A popup may offer a parcel link, but it is not necessarily an assessor card. Confirm the parcel in ATIP.
Frederickson's County Address Grid
Pierce County identifies Ordinance 84-152 as the first adoption of its addressing grid. The ordinance number is a useful archival search term when an old rural route, number, or road form fails. Official Frederickson maps use Brookdale Road East, Canyon Road East, Military Road East, Woodland Avenue East, Waller Road East, and many numbered roads and avenues.
Keep historic wording beside the normalized form. Do not infer a renumbering from a current map alone. Compare plats, road-centerline revisions, newspaper descriptions, and the source date. Community-plan, census, county-addressing, and postal boundaries answer different questions.
Frederickson Street Record Terms
A few land terms keep a street directory precise and stop a tax-mail destination from being mistaken for the land.
- Parcel
- A county-defined unit of land identified by an account number.
- Situs address
- The physical address assigned to land, distinct from an owner's mailing address.
- Plat
- A recorded map of lots, blocks, and roads.
- Criss-cross directory
- A dated directory arranged by street or address.
Frederickson Street Records Compared
No Frederickson street directory is a live census. Each layer answers a narrow question and carries its own date.
| Record Set | Keeper | What It Shows | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Property and sales | Pierce Assessor-Treasurer | Parcel, owner, situs, mailing, value, and sales concepts | ATIP; live fields need verification |
| GIS map | Pierce County | Parcels, roads, plan areas, and layers | PublicGIS |
| Recorded documents | Pierce Auditor | Deeds, easements, liens, plats, and parties | Generally 1984 forward; older index books |
| Voter data | Elections offices | Registration or approved precinct data | VoteWA or limited request |
| Directories | Regional libraries | Dated names and addresses | Catalog, appointment, or databases |
The parcel number joins map and assessment work. Names, dates, AFNs, and legal descriptions bridge into deeds. Directory and voter clues require separate checks.
Frederickson Deeds Need Names
The Pierce County Recorded Documents office explains the key local quirk. Although parcel information can be an index field, official instructions say the public search cannot search by parcel number or address. Move from address to parcel, owner, legal description, and then name, date, or AFN.
The online index and selected images generally reach back to 1984. Images may be watermarked, redacted, unavailable, or noncertified. Earlier work moves to index books and an office or mail image request. A mail request should identify the recording number, names, and recording date. The Tacoma counter also offers help during its published weekday hours, with an appointment recommended.
Trace Frederickson Recorded Documents
A deed chain records transfers, not all people who lived on the land. Start with the current parcel clue, then distinguish a deed from a mortgage, release, easement, covenant, lien, or foreclosure filing.
- Save the owner display, situs, mailing address, parcel key, and legal description separately.
- Search the grantee name and likely date range in Aumentum Recorder.
- Record AFN, date, parties, document nature, prior reference, and image status.
- Search the seller as a prior grantee and repeat backward.
- At the 1984 boundary, use index books, office help, or mail requests.
A trustee, lender, estate, or business may be a party without being an occupant. Preserve that distinction in every by-street note.
Frederickson Directories by Address
Regional Polk volumes and Tacoma-area directories can place a published name at a dated address, but no incorporated Frederickson city directory was identified. Check Puyallup, Tacoma Suburban, Parkland, Spanaway, and Pierce County headings when the year and old postal label point there.
Inspect the actual volume for a reverse section. Record the exact road form, rural route, house number, spelling, page, and nearby entries. The Frederickson city directory collections are covered separately; here they serve only as one link in a street chain. The latest public federal census is 1950 under the 72-year release rule, and old census geography may not use the Frederickson name.
Street Evidence Beyond the Portal
When a web search fails, keep the access chain moving. The Assessor-Treasurer offers office assistance. The Auditor provides counter and mail routes for older or restricted images. Nearby Pierce County Library branches offer computers, printing, scanning, and databases; Parkland/Spanaway also lists microfilm readers and a law library.
Tacoma's Northwest Room holds directories, maps, newspapers, an obituary index, and a Buildings Index, with staff retrieval from closed stacks. The Washington State Library lists regional directory runs but has operated with limited appointment access since July 2025. Pierce Historical Association inventories and the Historical Documents Survey can identify plats, clippings, maps, and repositories without replacing the official record.
Note: Record which repository actually holds the volume, since a catalog lead does not prove Frederickson coverage.
Owner Alert Watches Frederickson Names
The free Pierce Owner Alert accepts an email, up to ten name versions, plus parcel, subdivision, or condominium terms. Alerts start only after enrollment and link to a matching recorded document.
It cannot reconstruct prior recordings or reverse a transfer. Common names can cause false positives, and the service covers Pierce County only. Keep the AFN if a notice needs review by the Auditor. Enrollment information may itself be subject to Washington public-record rules.
Voter Clues Along Frederickson Streets
VoteWA is the official individual registration route, while broader Pierce County election data follows a request process. Washington does not record party preference as a registration field. A status or voting-history entry also does not reveal a ballot choice, and an active file status is not proof that someone stood at the address on the search date.
The Pierce Elections form separates district or precinct data, current-election matchbacks, and date-specific voting history. It accepts email or CD delivery and requires an acknowledgment, signature, and date. The research documents fees of five dollars for each district or precinct and five dollars per requested matchback day, with an approximate five-business-day target. Only active voters are supplied unless another scope is stated, and statutory use limits apply.
Keep the file extraction date, county, election year, precinct label, requested scope, and delivery format. Redistricting and address corrections can change geography. Address Confidentiality Program participants may have suppressed or substituted information, which must not be reconstructed from other street records. A careful street directory uses voter material as one dated layer and never turns it into a published personal roster.
Check Frederickson Map Boundaries
Frederickson can mean the unincorporated community-plan area, the Census-designated place, the county addressing jurisdiction, or overlapping postal service areas. The Frederickson Advisory Commission used 98375, 98387, and 98446 in one area analysis, but it warned that the combined ZIP area was larger than the community plan. A ZIP match alone cannot place an address inside Frederickson.
Use USPS for delivery normalization, PublicGIS for county parcel and plan context, and Census sources for statistical geography. Record which boundary supports each statement. This matters along corridors such as Canyon Road East, Military Road East, and Waller Road East, where a postal city or broad ZIP result may suggest nearby South Hill, Spanaway, or Summit-Waller context.
Frederickson Street Directory Limits
Property records omit many non-owner occupants, visitors, and household members. VoteWA is not a browsable street roster, while voter-file requests carry statutory use limits. Utility customer lists are not a general public source, and vehicle address data is restricted. Protected or suppressed fields must remain hidden.
Dates matter as much as names. An assessor entry is a dated property record; a directory is a published snapshot; voter status reflects election-office maintenance. None alone proves current presence at a Frederickson address. PublicGIS also shows current geometry, not the parcel or road exactly as it looked decades ago.
Lawful use. Use Frederickson street records only for lawful personal research. Never use an address trail to stalk, harass, intimidate, or expose a protected person.
